I am a technologist and educator with a passion for technology that works simply and simply works. I am also interested in how computers and the Internet can play a role in transforming public K-12 education. In my leisure time, I am often eating or planning my next meal. I'm particularly fond of dessert.
I am the executive director of StopBadware, a non-profit organization that had its origins as a project at Harvard University's Berkman Center for Internet & Society. I have spoken on malware policy and user education at conferences hosted by the Federal Trade Commission, the Anti-Spyware Coalition, and the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group. I also serve on the Massachusetts Educational Technology Advisory Council and the advisory board of the Anti Malware Testing Standards Organization (AMTSO).
Prior to joining StopBadware, I worked in a variety of positions involving technology, communications, education, and leadership across a range of industries. Most recently, I served on the national management team of Year Up as its technology director.
I am the chair of the Medford Ward 8 Democratic Committee in Medford, Massachusetts. I previously served on the board of the Friends of the Medford Public Library.
I attended Tufts University, from which I received a master's degree in teaching and a bachelor's degree in quantitative economics and environmental studies.
